On Friday November 8th we carried third, fourth, fifth and sixth classes to the University Concert Hall in Limerick to see the Cork Pops Orchestra.

We went to the morning show which began at 10:15am. Evelyn Grant (RTE lyric fm) presented the show and was the conductor of the Orchestra on the day.

We hear pieces of music from many famous composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, and Tchaikovsky.

The children were captivated by the music and listened to the many musical instruments. There was a harp, violins, trumpet, oboe, double bass, Bassoons, flutes and  drums to name but a few.

Then we had singer Keith Hanley, who sang a few songs which the children enjoyed singing along and dancing to, ‘This is Me’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’, ‘Another Day of Sun’ from the film ‘La La Land’ chart topper ‘Dance Monkey’ and Lewis Capaldi’s – Someone You Loved. It was great fun.

DJ Dashka showed us how he made music using technology and not traditional instruments. This was really cool.

We all enjoyed the show and would like to say a huge thanks to all the musicians and organisers involved.

Please see a few pictures of the musicians in action below.
