Today our sixth class pupils had visitors from both Desmond College and SMI visit the school to speak with our sixth class pupils about progressing to secondary school and what SMI and Desmond College had to offer.

Sincere thanks to all the staff who spoke to our pupils and who were very informative. We were delighted to welcome back past pupil Ciara Brosnan who is now teaching in SMI. We wish Ciara all the best in her career.

However, there was one person that our pupils were really excited to see and that was Limerick Senior Hurling Legend, Gearóid Hegarty who teaches in the Desmond College.

Gearóid spoke to 5th and 6th pupils and also pulled out the ticket for this week’s ‘Split the Pot’ competition which is being run to fund our new astro turf playground recently installed in Killoughteen NS. Sincere thanks to Gearóid for doing this.

Our lucky winner this week was Jack McCarthy, grandfather of 2 of our pupils Sophia and Shayne Sheehy. They were delighted to get a picture with Gearóid. Congratulations to Jack McCarthy. This weeks pot came to €249.

Gearóid also took photos with the classes.
