This year our school applied for our third green flag. It was based on the theme of water conservation. We did water surveys around the school. We read the water meter every month to see how much water we are using. We also checked it a few times last thing in the evening and first thing in the morning to determine if the school had any leaks. Thankfully we do not.

In all the classes we continued to keep up the good work with recycling. All classes have 3 bins. One for general waste, food recycling and clean dry recyclables. We also have energy detectives in each class who ensure that lights and electricity is turned off when outside at lunch times.

This year our green schools committee also met up weekly and were tasked with many chores from Mrs O Doherty the green schools co-ordinator. All of our pupils had a competition to come up with a slogan to save water. The winning slogan was ‘Watch every drop and the waste will stop.’ I am delighted to announce that all the hard work has paid off and we have been awarded our third green flag. See letter attached showing we have achieved the award, and also pictures of our Green flag board.
