Today January 16th 2020, our 6th class pupils had a great day at school. The children completed the ‘EV3 Senior Robotics’ workshop with two excellent teachers called Fergal and Cormac from Learn it. Using Lego as a tool, the children designed and programmed robots to complete assigned tasks.
This programme which is fully sponsored by Analog Devices helped the children to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in a fun and innovative way. To begin the day, the children were placed into teams of three or four. They worked hard designing and programming their robots all day. At the end of the day, the robots completed by the teams competed against each other until a winning team was declared.
This team will now go forward to participate in the Primary Schools Final. This will involve a more advanced robotics workshop allowing each team an opportunity to build a new robot ready to face the new challenges that await them. The final will be held in the Analog Devices European Research & Development Centre in Raheen Limerick on Saturday February 29th. Parents of our winning team will have an opportunity to cheer on their children in the Final Challenge.
We wish our winning team of Jade, Molly, Aideen, and Cagla (Baby Yoda – name of the winning robot) all the very best in the competition.
Sincere thanks to Cormac and Fergal of Learn it. All children had a great day. See some pictures of the days events below.
