This April we celebrated Autism Awareness Month at Killoughteen NS and our pupils participated in a range of fun activities.
On 31st March our pupils wore blue to celebrate autism throughout the school.
Last week at Killoughteen NS our pupils participated in events for wellness week during Autism Acceptance Month.
On Thursday 27th April we held yoga for our junior infants to 4th class pupils, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Friday morning we had 9@9 or ‘Wake Up, Shake Up’, where the children complete 9 exercices and danced in the morning. This is a regular event on Friday mornings at Killoughteen NS and a favourite of the childrens!
On Friday we asked our pupils to wear their favourite colours / team colours or items of clothing that show who they are on the inside and out.
We also held a school wide game of Heads & Tails. Our winner was Joseph Carr in 5th Class who won a €30 Smyths voucher. Through this challenge we raised funds for the charity AsiAm. In total we raised €620. A big thanks to our wonderful teachers for organising such fun activities for our pupils.
