This year 5th and 6th class went to the Primary Science fair in Limerick. We had to make a simple science project that we could showcase in Mary Immaculate College, which is where the science fair would be held.
The 5th and 6th class pupils decided to showcase the science behind a fire-extinguisher and we made mini hand held fire-extinguishers with Miss Mulqueen. The aim was to show people how bases and acids don’t mix, they react.
We mixed baking soda (base) with vinegar(acid) and when they touched a large foam sprayed out. We had so much fun experimenting with Miss Mulqueen.
At the science fair there were lots of different stalls, with lots of different projects. We showed people how our project worked. We even met the Mayor of Limerick. We had a great day and the judges gave us a nice plaque. After the science fair we all went to McDonalds. We all had an amazing day and I hope we can go again next year.
