Sarsfield

Last year when I heard that the trials were starting for the Sarsfield Cup I was really excited. The trials were held in Mick Neville Park. My Grandad took me to Rathkeale for the first round of trials, I was really nervous. Once I got there, I knew a few of the boys that were also trying out. I was put in mid field, which usually would not be my position, but it all worked out cause we scored 2 points and made I to the next round. I was really happy, but I knew I had another trial to do to get my place on the team. For the second lot of trials, it was a match! I was in mid field again and I played well… because I was picked for the team! It was a great feeling. We played East Limerick, and won. We made it to the final. Next stop-The Gaelic Grounds. All that day I was so nervous, but I couldn’t wait to get there. It was the best feeling to run on the Gaelic Grounds wearing the green, white and gold of my west Limerick. It was a bitter cold night but I didn’t care because I started in corner forward, and it even got better! With the first ball that came to me, I caught it, turned and scored a goal! It was a great feeling. I will remember that night for a long time to come, and all the friends I made along the way.
